Annual LAN (and online now) party w/ some friends starts on the 26th. Each year we play some Jackbox and other phone games, but also Half-life and Counter-strike 1.6 with custom maps we've created over the years - some as old as ~1999 or so.
Anyway I promised a new map this year and then slacked off for the past 350 days and have nothing to show for it. Let's see if I can knock something together in the next 3 days for CS that isn't horrible to play! (well, tbf that hasn't stopped us before, but...)

roughly blocked out some paths and key areas (bomb sites, spawn points). too flat currently, need more height variance. and the scale I think is way too big but I can fix that as I go.
Looks like five areas to detail and a lot of walkways, hopefully not TOO much for a romp if I don't get hung up on trivial stuf like I tend to do lol. I guess if it gets down to the wire I can just do one in bright orange with signposts about how that area it's under construction, please check back next year

T spawn and the southwest / west areas starting to take shape now. I like doing rocky cliff work in Hammer, you can get good results using a lot of triangular prisms and just changing vertex height to create jagged faces.
This deadline is so brutal! If I had time I'd spend hours iterating on this gingerbread house, but the best I can do is block it out and hope there's time to detail further before we play this.

Alas, after a full day of wrapping presents - and expecting an equally busy one tomorrow UNwrapping them - I think there's no way I can make enough progress on this in the remaining time. Bummer! Oh well, maybe next year
