learned something recently. when they yank out your gallbladder, they tell you that without a gallbladder, you can’t handle as much fat as you could before. Obviously. The gallbladder’s entire job is to store bile and provide it on-demand when you eat some cheese or whatever to deal with the fat content. They tell you that eating too much fat will result in unfortunate runs to the restroom and yeah it totally does that. And that in most folks, particularly AMAB, your gut biome will adjust and you can go back to life as was.
What they don’t tell you, or at least no one told me, that the lack of gallbladder affects gastric emptying, the amount of time it takes for food to leave your stomach and move on its merry way. Think about it this way. If you’re washing a plate and I give you soap one drop at a time, it’s gonna take fucking forever to wash that plate. Sure you might give up and send it on down the line anyway but maybe you’ll stay there for a month washing that plate out of goddamn spite.
And that’s what my stomach is doing. Taking forever to wash that plate because fuck you and that’s a lot of why I have GERD. So, dietary changes, yeah? Gotta find … different… safe foods…. you can feel me tensing up and getting ready to run out of the room, can’t you? different… safe foods… fuck. -
@sungo oh that's interesting in both awful and informative ways! Makes a lot of sense.
Good luck in your safe food quest.
