But one observation is that my own experience of political opinions is that one of the most effective ways of changing them is for someone you respect to tell you you’re being a dickhead, a thing that has happened to me quite a lot. ‘Liam, get your hand off it’. It works

You can have a sook about it or you can try to advance your counter argument. But if someone you respect genuinely tells you sincerely to STFU it is usually the bad opinion rather than the respect that yields

Anyway I advance this in the context of young men radicalising themselves into shit opinions via manospheric podcasts. Older men, especially those in positions of respect or moral authority, just tell them to shut up, it is always correct and surprisingly effective
