fedi is teaching me that the real problem with social media is the algorithms. adding in financial incentive, plus the ability to pay to win, plus an algorithm that is designed to abuse all the data it has on each of its users to tailor to them an experience that is as personable as it is addictive is extremely predatory. when applied to children it is tantamount to corporate grooming. it leads to a culture of people more interested in scamming their friends and being famous than loving their neighbor.
