I'm thinking of temporarily removing threads.net accounts from the popular accounts list on #FediDB because their follower counts include non-federating accounts.

What do you think?
FediDB, Fediverse Network Statistics
FediDB is a cutting-edge service providing detailed statistics and insights into the Fediverse network.

@dansup It's called "federation" for a reason, we should be open and welcoming to *anyone* who behaves.
-
@CartyBoston @dansup But… Threads doesn't. Aside from transphobia and such they just even blacklisted the "caturday" hasthag.
-
@dansup just a thought, but what if only include threads accounts that HAVE federated?
-
@Goldmaster It's impossible to get that count, because threads doesn't differentiate between accounts with federation enabled and without
-
@[email protected] would be great if there could be a way to filter the list so you could see a list without threads but also a list that only has threads accounts.
The latter would be very useful for finding new accounts to follow from Threads. If it was a general filter for any domain it would probably be interesting and potentially useful too, someone might want to find good pixelfed accounts to follow etc. -
@dansup Please keep it, they’re making progress. Others voting against it are those that don’t like Threads anyways. Just add filters or an asterisk
-
@dansup ah that's the issue. It's funny how people jump from twitter to Facebook threads when everyone knows that Facebook is just as bad. It's very similar to a 2 party problem.
When the very reason for a Elon musk takeover was due to how twitter was set up.
The biggest challenge Mastodon has is the networking effect. Social media managers only look at engagement not which is the best platform option.
One could give "the keys" to the enterprise and they could still turn down the system.
-
@vetehinen @dansup How about filtering by software rather than filtering by domain?
-
@damon Yeah, I am keeping them, but will add a checkbox so you can easily hide all Threads accounts!
I think this is the best of both worlds tbh
-
@gunchleoc @vetehinen Good idea!
-
@dansup yeah I’d prefer default-hidden but still available with a toggle.
Is there any hope of ever having data on how many *fediverse* follows a Threads account has?
-
@dansup Just add a domain filter feature. Everyone gets what they want and you get a cool useful new feature.
