When I heard abt it from secondary sources they made it sound like it was greed but like, not everyone can afford to just pay a bunch out of their pocket to host everyone for free and it's not greedy to try to break even
Just use a different server if you don't want to pay!
He's not even kicking ppl out, just closing registration

@raphaelmorgan for what it’s worth he also deadnamed and misgendered a certain fedi main character everyone is supposed to hate. Which is impressive, because he had to actively look it up, this wasn’t any accident. Besides the threatening murder.
