Random things my late grandma would say: If you buy a loaf of store-bought bread, and it says it is a pound, but it weighs heavier than a pound and is the same length and shape as the others or as it normally is, it's a bad loaf of bread. Don't buy bread that is heavier than it is supposed to be.

@paul what does it mean? What’s bad about it?? Moldy? Stale? Too much flour? I must know….

They mixed it wrong, like too much flour, it didn't proof right, yeast process or amount wrong or bad, etc. it's safe to eat but will be spongy, have thick veins, etc. Not good for sandwiches and may go bad quicker.

@paul ah I didn’t know that! Thought maybe it was made with extra love 🥰 (mentally preparing myself for the looks I will get as a meticulously hand weigh multiple loafs of sliced bread at the store lol)
