I know this is probably one of those, well duh its just `git` but like, how are you to know that information from the outset? seems like one of those things there should really be search results for...

hmm, I really just want to edit some text and then send a PR

@liaizon I don't think you can, you just clone it using git.
Fork is more like a UI affordance for making a new git repo and then cloing the contents of another repo plus a pointer to upstream. The feature you want would be something like "federated fork" since it would need a flow similar to remote follow on the fediverse to establish the context for the fork and such.
"Clone is VS Code" is pretty friendly though since you don't have to copy paste the repo url or run git manually.

@lafurgo hey I really love https://sindominio.net/lafurgo and I saw you already support translations, how are you managing them? whats the best way to translate the site?

@Gaelan yeah! is there a way to do this entirely through the already existing web interfaces?

@liaizon not to my knowledge; my instinct would just be git clone then git push to your instance
also, if your goal is to send a PR back to the original project, I’m pretty sure neither Gitea nor Forgejo support cross-instance PRs (although Forgejo is working on it). Your best options are probably either creating a fork on the original instance (if you’re able to get an account there), or doing an informal PR of the form “hey there’s a branch on my instance at [url], would appreciate if you merged it”

@Gaelan thanks for the explanation. I guess my expectation was for there to be some sort of UI in the front end of forges that you would input a repo url and it would `git clone` and `git push` for you. I really only started using git with not through some sort of gui or frontend like through a plugin in an IDE quite recently so my expectations were that you should be able to do everything inside of the forge websites.

However, translation apart, we don't know how to localize the contents, that is, the recommended accounts and nodes.
We've also been asked for an Italian translation
Are you imagining just translating it? We also thought about letting people to "open a chapter" of lafurgo in their territory, if anyone feels like doing "workshops of digital neighbourhood moving". But we are unsure yet.
You tell us! -

@lafurgo babysteps! Maybe just providing the translation of your page first since its already so good. I understand its intended to a specific regional area but also there are plenty of people who live in spain and have english as their most comfortable tongue. I have a feeling @tommi or @_elena might be down to help with an Italian translation. Then the next step is regional chapters of the recommended neighborhoods!
