You tend to have very extreme views, which sometimes get heavily downvoted. It’s convenient for you to blame that on “American indoctrination.”
And as you say, Lemmy is too small. So maybe it’s just that a lot of people here do not agree with your views.

Depends heavily even then, but Lemmy is pretty okay as a community and I think it's been the most successful fediverse experience so far

Those aren't mutually exclusive; “American indoctrination.” is the reason so many lemmitors disagree with such extreme views as "sending weapons that prolong war is bad for the people who will suffer the effects of those weapons, mostly civilians", "supporting al-nusra is bad", and "we shouldn't put tariffs on EVs and solar panels",

"The only recourse you'll have" is the whole point. You have no recourse on Reddit. There is no other Reddit server. There are many Lemmy servers, all over the world, with very different views and policies.

does Fediverse have a short form video content platform? cuz that's what people really care about these days
(also side note, we all really should avoid or limit short form video content consumption...)

yeah but there's tankies too, so it cancels out

.world is not the problem, this particular user is.
They literally said "I hate the disabled". I know that because I tagged them when I saw that. No it wasn't out of context.
Other instances they may have just been full on banned for their behavior.

And you're just jumping from one instance to another with admins that can censor you again and again. You create your own instance and other instances' admins can censor you by defederating from your own instance.

We already have American censorship on the top ones, which will get worse once Project 2025 is enacted...

I haven't checked it out yet but "loops" is supposed to be that

raises hand from a popular and politically agnostic instance

Just out of curiosity, what's your solution?
(Putting aside that what you describe is still far more room for ban evasion than non-fediverse platforms.)

Fediverse: extremely USA-centric, extremely left and queer. Dissent is punished as hard as posting Winnie Pooh on TikTok.

Sigh. And this is exactly why I said people need to learn how these protocols work.

I don't understand it at all. I find it infuriating. I need long videos to play in the background while I work. I can't get anything done with this short crap. Maybe that's the point..

Still better than Twitter, but let's be honest - sh.itjust.works
Blog post by Christine Lemmer-Webber, co-editor of ActivityPub: https://dustycloud.org/blog/how-decentralized-is-bluesky/ [https://dustycloud.org/blog/how-decentralized-is-bluesky/] > The likely answer to this is that there will always have to be a large corporation at the heart of Bluesky/ATProto, and the network will have to rely on that corporation to do the work of abuse mitigation, particularly in terms of illegal content and spam. This may be a good enough solution for Bluesky’s purposes, but on the economics alone it’s going to be a centralized system that relies on trusting centralized authorities.
(sh.itjust.works)
Basically, decentralize the back-end independently of the front-end, eliminate admins altogether, mods still exist but they only have power on their communities, they don't have site wide power.

I believe Pixelfed Loops is the only one currently, it's actually not half bad, apart from how barebones and stuttery the app is, which isn't a big deal since the issues are only occasional.

Dude. The Russian propaganda flows freely around here.

Even for people, who are not Leninist/Stalinist or similar, it is noticeable.
From my perspective (being not from the US) us-american arrogance is very present on lemmy.
