All the Peertube apps on FDroid seem to have been abandoned. The official Peertube app is still in pretty early development, and it isn't on FDroid yet, but it's open source and it is being actively developed. You can read about it here:

@ChrisWere @Blort Yes, you're right. NewPipe is unfortunately no longer the most modern app. The design is very outdated. Fortunately, NewPipe is currently being rewritten. Thanks for your tip.

If you don't really care about notifications. Or UX. Or commenting.
Personally I find NewPipe a lot better for YouTube than for Peertube, where the UX just isn't cut out for random instances .
I'll admit though, I haven't tried it in a while, so hopefully it's gotten radically better recently.

Ooo! That's good to know! The engine behind NewPipe has always been good. It's always just been the UX. It would be great if they remade it, thinking of the Fediverse from the ground up!

For the former, there's also #NewPipe, which can show #Peertube videos as well as YT: newpipe.net/ -

@mondstern @Blort @agosto182 Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to programme such an app myself. Although I programme all day for a living, I haven't yet developed a mobile application for #Android or #iOS. I think I'll start by using #NewPipe to watch #videos on #Peertube.

@HalleAndert I was about to say NewPipe. Its UI/UX isn't the worst? I don't understand why you say that. It's a very solid app in my opinion, which is what I would want from something that streams and play content.

@f I'm not saying that NewPipe has the worst user interface, but the app isn't modern or up-to-date either. There are much more modern apps. NewPipe is being rewritten for a good reason. They are well aware that NewPipe no longer meets the latest requirements. But I agree with you that NewPipe is a very solid app.
