Tomorrow in Brazil we have municipal elections (for mayor and city council), which are offset by 2 years from state and federal elections.
Voting is mandatory (though the fine is symbolic), so damn near every citizen votes. It is perhaps one of the most effective ways to deal with voter suppression.
In my city, we have two uber-conservatives and one moderate conservative (the incumbent) tied up leading the polls. One is a bolsonarist, and clearly the worst possible option.
After that, we have a trans candidate that moved from the far left party to a very moderate party and is basically a liberal. The Worker's Party (from President Lula) has a surprisingly good candidate, with a great vice from further left, but no chance. We got another far left party recently, good principles, but still small and who knows how it will turn out.
For city council, we have many wonderful candidates, but sadly prospects are a very conservative council (again).
