Dear Bluesky folks,
I am really glad you made the choice to find a new “X”. You’re joining millions of others who have done the same. Whether it is Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon or the rest of the #OpenSocialWeb #Fedivese, it’s all better than that place.When I made that choice, Bsky was much smaller, and Threads didn’t exist. Things change.. but I am here to tell you, you might be missing out.

@chris @bsky.brid.gy jack dorsey is the nazi that sold twitter to that other nazi fuck.. I will never engage with anything that is tainted by nazis... SO no bluesky for me thanks.. Also threads is merely an extension of nazi facebook.... So far Mastodon appears to be the lesser evil... Also the lesser evil has become as good as we can expect.. Nobody is lining up to offer us the greater good.

2/3 When I made the jump off Twitter (Nov ‘22) and into the #Fediverse I didn’t even understand what that word meant, aside from it obviously being…
(nttiawwt).I quickly found new friends to chat with, new topics and old, but then it started to dawn on me, and this is the part you might not see on BSky:
It’s like I had stepped out of a desert, into what I thought was an oasis, but it was actually the entrance to an unimaginably vibrant and diverse forest. #OpenSocialWeb

What’s the first and best advantage of the #Fediverse #OpenSocialWeb over the corporate alternatives?
Whether it’s #Mastodon #Pixelfed #Lemmy #peertube *you* are in control of your timeline. Period.

@Ulrich_the_elder @bsky.brid.gy that is true (tho apparently Dorsey has left Bsky now), but people are there and they are there because they are open to change. So I am going to do my best to get them over here, on the “lesser-evil” in hopes it will make this place that much better.

@chris I like having more than one account in different servers.. i like a lot the idea of being clearly decentralized... and somehow i'd like it to have more... "newspapers" or "cities" but also.. a small community is not dirven by likes... so there's a maximum size that works...

Disagree.The first and best advantage is that it’s for the people & by the people. These projects are built by people who have the same common goals that you do, and they are not beholden to shareholders.
Some people like the curated timeline. The algorithm is good at what it does, and people do enjoy it.
Find an instance which feels right, then make sure you donate a couple dollars on a recurring basis to support what you use. You matter.
