I don't understand this obsession with "growing the economy" in Canada when 50% of all Canadians are $200 away from insolvency. You know, we've been trying to grow the economy for ages, and we have!
The Canadian economy grew 41% under Trudeau. Look how much better off we all are.
- 22.9% of Canadians experience food insecurity.
- Food bank usage up 90% since 2019.
- Rents have skyrocketed across the country.
- Our wages have barely kept up with inflation, let alone gone up with this economic growth. So to the politicians promising economic growth, when will the people experience it?

Trudeau took the side of corporations over people, just like the neo liberals have done in the United States. It's good for shareholders and stockholders economies. But it's not good for the rest of us who buy groceries & need housing. This disconnect from the reality most of us live isn't healthy democracy. We both need progressive policies or we will get fascism. I sincerely hope that Canada stays left it doesn't move to the right like the US has done.

I was going to write essentially this but was feeling oppressed by the reality of it all. -

@FranceskaMann @mayintoronto @chris I hope you’re right but the polls are sobering. Trump kicked rather than pushed the overton window to the right last time he was in I expect this time will be much worse. But perhaps Canadians need to see it again to be reminded what a Conservative government potentially represents for us.

When I lived in BC and dined with wealthy people, they did not want to pay for everyone else. Rich people are selfish in Canada too. But privatization leads to fascism and pain. The USA far right is a death cult. They want to destroy planet, women, anything they can. We are all fighting these forces. Thankfully, Minnesota and Canada remain fast friends. Blue jewels.

@mayintoronto 'Growing the economy' means making poor people work harder for longer while rich people earn more for doing less.
