I’ve been sober for a few years, but I miss bars. Bars were a big part of my life for a long time. Maybe I just miss third places. Anyway, there aren’t many third places here that aren’t bars.
It’s different for every sober person, but I am personally ok being in bars and around real booze. I’m not at risk of going back. So I have a few bars that I like going to where I know they have enough NA options for me. It fills some kind of social hole for me.

@skinnylatte The worst part for me is that bieng the sober person around people drinking stops being fun at some point.

@skinnylatte I just had a work event with a bar, and they had NA beer (a really good IPA) and I got a couple of very tasty NA cocktails, it was nice.
-
@cobweb yes! I’m one of the weirdos who really likes IPAs and frankly I can drink a lot more NA IPA and that’s so cool

Same. About 6 years sober. Really like tonic water with lime. The fancy ones if they carry them (eg. Elderberry Fevertree) but any old tonic water works. So many good NA beers nowadays too.

Find that to be true too. Depends on how much they are drinking.

@skinnylatte I don’t know what it's like in the USA, but the range of zero-alcohol beers has hugely exanded recently here. That's making it a lot easier for me to go to bars without having to order sweet fizzy crap, which helps a lot.

@timrichards almost every place has NA, multiple options, even dive bars now. At least in CA
it’s even taken off in Singapore as well which has NA stuff from all over the world. Pretty good to see
