Where are the good places to get vegan food in downtown San Francisco?
-
@peterbutler @skinnylatte knows all
-
@ukuku @peterbutler Om Sabor (inside Phonobar) near San Francisco is my favorite vegan restaurant rn
Rad Radish across it for brunchy things
Shizen and Cha-Ya for Japanese
Golden Era for Thai
Mong Thu (in a pretty bad, but fine part of town) has good vegan banh mi that isn’t just tofu
The food hall in ikea downtown has a ton of vegan options including Puerto Rican at Casa Boriqueña
Savor cafe in the residential areas has v nice food in an intimate cafe
Greens for sit down dinner
-
@ukuku @peterbutler Mr Charlie’s if you’re ever craving a fully vegan McDonalds type experience (I really like it)
-
@skinnylatte @ukuku @peterbutler señor sisig’s vegan options are solid and I think the trick is downtown some days still?
-
@luis_in_brief @ukuku @peterbutler oh yeah i always forget about them somehow
-
@skinnylatte @ukuku Thank you. Golden Era was my jam for many many years, though I haven’t been in years, not since O’Farrell St.
Unfortunately, I believe the Supreme Leader has gone full MAGA
Cha-Ya and Shizen are both great (and I just learned Gracias Madre is closed…)
Mong Thu will definitely be my next try. Thank you!
-
@peterbutler @skinnylatte @ukuku wait, what's this about a Supreme Leader? Is Golden Era connected with some cult or something? I thought that was just Loving Hut.
-
@peterbutler @ukuku on yes, that cult is a bit iffy for sure
There is a new vegan dimsum spot in portola at Imperial Garden
-
@scott @peterbutler @ukuku they are related to the loving hut people. They also set up other restaurants including independent ones. Their cult has done some real damage especially among AAPIs and people in Asia

@pagrus @ukuku @peterbutler international food court? Most of the stuff there has closed, or moved, unsure about vegan options there now
