I'm not content warning this, it's just a #woman in her underwear. Also, that would be irony
This is #Tehranβs Islamic Azad University on Nov 2
She was assaulted by #Iran's #morality #police because her #hijab was "improper"
So she just stripped
She was arrested and I don't think it will go well for her. Iran's weak, insecure, moronic hangups over #women's clothing is vicious cruel and violent. They kill women for showing their hair. It's all so fucking stupid

Everyone else just stood around and watched, knowing what was going to happen to her.

i understand what you're saying, but it's not like they agree with what is going on. if they act up, iran would truck in basiji
obviously there needs to be change in iran and it needs to come from the people
and they've tried
a number of times over the last decade
all of it brutally suppressed

Oh, I know. That doesn't make it any less depressing to watch.

yeah
a bunch of people standing around while a human being is degraded, then assaulted and driven away
whatever the various reasons for the reticence, forgiveable or bad, the scene in and of itself is very depressing

@benroyce @Mikal Yeah. I imagined everyone (okay, almost everyone) watching was fighting the urge to go help, or even to strip off & join her. Weighing that against their own lives & livelihoods; & their family's lives & livelihoods. It takes something special to volunteer yourself for a high risk of dying under torture; & something a lot more to volunteer your family for the same.
These Iranian police & the religious enforcement gangs- they do not mess around.

the #basiji
they have murdered their fellow iranians many times before, and they will again
basically the govt trucks rural #conservatives into #iranian cities when there is unrest, and they go about cracking skulls and shooting protesters, then are trucked back
brutally simple and efficient
the iranian people have a tough situation, but they are not giving up
A feared Iranian militia is leading the crackdown on protesters. Who are the Basij?
Dressed in black, the group of chanting schoolgirls in the Iranian city of Shiraz appeared determined to make themselves heard. βBasiji, go and get lost,β

US loves Iran, they are strong enough to stand on their own two feet.
So they won't easily collapse under their own stench.
They give US and Israel a fantastic bogeyman.
And we even helped them to build a formidable aviation technology, raining death in Ukraine, by forcing them to develop it via the means of an embargo.#iran is a win-win for the Governments of both counties.

that's some real ignorant shit Wulfy
look at the video up top
that's iranian home grown theofascism
"well it's the usa's fault because..."
fuck that noise. the usa is responsible for much evil in the world. but it has zero blame for this. and if you have to twist your thoughts about how to blame the usa for this, you have no interest in truth

@benroyce @n_dimension @Gorfram @Mikal
I mean, US and British colonialism in the 20th century sure didn't _help_. We don't (as a county) mind oppression in Saudi Arabia as long as the oil flows. And we preferred a puppet state to a democracy in Iran.
If we hadn't carried out the coup in 1953, Iranian public sentiment likely would have remained generally pro-US, and the last 50 years would have been _very_ different.
But...one can say that about a lot of what-ifs.
