I cannot believe how nautical English is
The word “strike” (as in, to withhold your labour) comes from the nautical term “strike”. Striking is when you roll up the sails to stop the ship from moving, which sailors would do if they wanted to withhold their labour.
Everything is all about boats in this damn language.
