How is it possible right now, at this minute, that the New York Times does not have a story up about Dick Cheney endorsing Kamala Harris?
-
@mastodonmigration NYT is trying their best to make this into a pro Trump story. Like everything else they do.
-
Yup. Was curious how they were going to do that. Pretty sweet pivot. That's what must have taken so long to noodle.
-
@mastodonmigration @franktaber Well, Dick Cheney *is* a villain. It's just that Trump is even worse.
-
@zenkat @mastodonmigration Yes and that is the point. But the NYT spun this in favor of Trump.
If I were in a fair news outlet I would have reported that due to the threat to democracy presented by Trump a historically broad coalition spanning from Sanders to Cheney is supporting Harris. Cheney does not agree on policy with Harris but recognizes that she is the only one who will maintain democracy.
-
@mastodonmigration I expect that NYT and Sulzberger will put out a mealymouthed and late and damning with faint praise editorial board endorsement of Harris but will otherwise continue spinning every story for Trump until election day.
-
@franktaber @mastodonmigration oh, no argument from me that the NYT is all-in on fascism. Just noting that Cheney is the evil dude who lied to start a war with Iraq.
Oh, and with the full backing of the NYT. Funny that.
-
Very true.
-
@franktaber @mastodonmigration I think you may be on to something. Because if they do endorse Trump, the next day he'll do something insane and then THEY own it.
-
@StevenSavage @mastodonmigration And the NYT wants to pretend that they are doing the right thing.
Throughout their crusade against Biden to get him to drop out they said they were doing it because the NYT only cares for what is best for the US and democracy. If they actually cared about democracy or even about accuracy they would not support Trump as they do.
What the NYT really cares about is power. Access to power and power itself.

@mastodonmigration
If you think a tim pool video is worth a hundred grand, what do you think the editorial control of the nyt is worth to the russians? -

And it's gone. Down the memory hole. Old news. The New York Times no longer has the story of Dick Cheney's endorsement of Kamala Harris up.
They waited all day yesterday and didn't post up anything until evening, and now it is gone. By contrast WaPo had the Cheney/Harris up all day and it's still there. Because it is big news!
In addition to sanewashing, normalization and both-siderism, this deemphasis of news beneficial to Harris is how A. G. Sulzberger puts his finger on the scale for Trump.
