I've got a little time to kill. Who wants to talk about #Linux today?

@jbowen What did you first install Linux on, what distro was it, and when?

@engarneering I would raise this at https://discussion.fedoraproject.org so we can help you get this working on #Fedora.

@porras Let's talk about guitar amps then. Tell me about your gear.

@vwbusguy Iโd be happy to, as long as youโre not looking for any expertise. :masto_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@seestevecode I am not. Shenanigans and hobbyists are welcome.

@vwbusguy Iโm definitely the latter of those. Only been using Linux for 2-3 years now but have still had a bit of a distribution hopping journey in that time. Currently trying to settle with Tumbleweed.

@seestevecode The best way to settle in is to get involved/connected with the community. Much of the OpenSUSE people are on Discord and Matrix.

@vwbusguy classic treks my first road bike was a borrowed trek from that age (shifters in the frame! like in the classic cycling pics!). Later I got germanified and I ride a 2015 canyon (also behind my face in my profile pic )

@vwbusguy any idea what a good combination of distro and WM / DE is for gaming regarding NVIDIA drivers availability (as in: donโt force me to try installing the drivers from NVIDIA.com) and potentially tearing / input latency / โฆ all the other fun stuff that matters?

@porras Very cool! I bought this one secondhand several years ago and have kept it up since. It's not the fastest bike on the road, but it's been a reliable workhorse that's been cheap to maintain. I commute to work with it, four miles each way.

@vwbusguy The first thing I *installed* it to disk on was an HP laptop I had in my first year of college; it was Ubuntu 8.04.
Before that I'd played with Knoppix live CDs on our family computer (some Compaq; I don't remember the processor model). This would have been 2006-ish. I also played with Ubuntu 7.xx live CDs on that same computer when I found out that Canonical would send them to you in the mail
Edit: for reference I'll be 35 in a month.

@vwbusguy thanks! I didnโt know about this one.
Shipping Gnome by default and built on top of Fedora should also mean no problems getting my usual ML stack up and running

@jbowen I'm 40 and began my Linux journey back in 2005. You're in good company.
