"Jake Tapper read Trump's comments to Glenn Youngkin and asked the governor of Virginia to condemn Trump's remarks. In a tortured five minutes, Youngkin refused, repeatedly claiming that Tapper was 'misinterpreting' Trump's remarks. When Tapper repeatedly said, 'I am reading his comments verbatim, let me show you the video,' Youngkin refused to condemn the comments and suggested that Trump didn’t mean what he said."

@wdlindsy Re Trump verbatim, as a linguist (translator) I feel sorry for interpreters who have to transpose his incoherent ramblings into their own languages. It must be a nightmare.

Interpreters were commenting on this back as early as 2016 & Trump hasn't improved with age, unlike decent cheese and wine.

Ridiculous purist hard lines are drawn between this and that group that leans to the left, separating group from group and weakening the broad coalition sorely needed at this point in history to turn back the tide of fascism.

Some of us in the US simply will not learn, because our notion of solidarity is weak to non-existent — and that makes us easy prey for those who need to divide us in order to conquer us.
