mechanical keyboardists first went wrong when they decided the model M was the best keyboard ever made and the new ones ""don't count"
-
@foone I miss the SIEMENS NIXDORF S26381-K257 my parents had
-
@tsia_ nice!
-
@foone We need a 300% keyboard, so that beginning keyboard aficionados can experience the same awe and confusion that us amateur pianists experience when looking at a pipe organ's controls.
-
I did like my Anykey. But I want one with all the extra keys on the left so there is mouse room on the right.

@foone but it has 5 layers and d and j are ctrl plus 3 thumb keys
space bar is also shift and when people look at my keyboard they are concerned it might curse them
-
@[email protected] what is with the model m hate? They are loved for a reason: they feel right onethe fingers. I use other keyboards for space reason, but the model m is superior to them all on the fingers.
-
@bluGill there's no hate for it, much the opposite: the problem is that model Ms are considered to be too good, the best keyboard ever, the only thing for serious keyboardists.
and that idea both personally antagonizes me (for complicated reasons) and just simply isn't true. it's a good keyboard. it's not so good you should be paying several hundred dollars to buy an ancient keyboard off ebay

@glassresistor LAYERS ARE FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T CARE ABOUT TYPING FAST
-
@foone @glassresistor layers are for people who value ergonomy over strain injury.
regarding speed, you're just ignorant about home-row mods and layer taps because when you start to practice them, well, you just can't go back.
oh, and this splitted kb still has way too much keys, btw. -
@josebernard @glassresistor I have been typing "incorrectly" for over 30 years and I am not going to fix it now just so I can use a keyboard that is missing some important keys
