I'm not saying I don't get many dates, but I keep a photo of my hand in my wallet!

@arqeria @kibcol1049 I suspect the sound quality is down to the fact that radio was AM back then, and mono. We've come a long way since those days - FM, stereo, digital etc - sound quality wise. (Until you hear Rap music played very loudly, from a car, on nasty quality speakers of course! )
I'm not a huge fan of Hancock, but he does have his moments.
What spoils a lot of US comedy for us Brits, is canned laughter. If a laughter track is needed, then it wasn't funny!
Cheers.

I always found the trouble with Hancock, was the same as he found, we laughed at Hancock and with Sid.
Not my fave from the era, that is the infamous.... Go On Show....
Also take it from here, for the Glums.

@Thebratdragon @NormanDunbar @arqeria @kibcol1049 Hancock was a little before my time. And he was always - sad. Given what happened, I think that was showing in his work.
The Goodies were always my favourite from those years.

Don't forget Spike Milligan.
I didn't quite 'get' him at first... too young. But I'm wondering if 'Q...' was repeated later because I eventually found him hilarious.
I loved 'The Goodies' too, but Dave Allen will probably remain king for me. His irreverent sketches, and the Mexican about to be shot, all had me in fits of laughter.

@TalktoBeverley @SteveClough @Thebratdragon @arqeria @kibcol1049 Spikes war books used to leave me rolling with laughter. Literally!
I saw Dave Allan in concert once, in Aberdeen. He was brilliant.

I mentioned Spike earlier, the infamous, Go On show. (which is how it was first announced on the radio, it was the Goon show of course and corrected from episode 2!

Ah yes... being that little bit younger, the cast didn't automatically click... Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers, Harry Secombe and Michael Bentine.
I don't remember them for this programme, but individually for later work. I'd quite forgotten Michael Bentine though I loved him when I was young.
Oh, and what about Eric Sykes...?

I'd forgotten Marty Feldman! I can't say any of his work sticks in my mind (more his looks I'm afraid to say...)

@TalktoBeverley @Thebratdragon @NormanDunbar @SteveClough @arqeria @kibcol1049 you must find old Marty stuff. Young Frankenstein with MelBrooks . The sketch with the Morris Minor and with John Junkin in the sketch as pilots

@John_Loader @TalktoBeverley @Thebratdragon @NormanDunbar @SteveClough @arqeria @kibcol1049 I *just* remember that UK Marty series. Great clip on youtube of a sketch called Bishop of no fixed abode. Love that
