Do you like the Wikipedia project in your native language?

@jeder @eloy @slime ah yeah it used to be a fun game a while ago to compare articles about known gay figures on EN and PL Wikipedia

PL articles were much more likely to either not mention it at all or be very avoidant of the topic and use euphemisms to describe it ("they were roommates" kind of shit lmao)

It seems to be a bit less common these days I think?

@jeder @rail_ @slime The research is about Polish editors/subjects on the English Wikipedia, not the Polish Wikipedia. I don't speak Polish, never used the Polish wiki.

On enwiki there are people who got promoted in 2004 with like 6 votes and now you are highly scrutinized by 100+ people if you want to become one

@rail_ @jeder @eloy @slime The PL wiki people also add deadnames of trans people in the articles about them, and it's not like the data is outdated, they add it back with every edit

@bl00d @rail_ @slime @jeder for all trans people? iirc the English wiki policy is to use both names only if the person became famous with their deadname

@eloy @rail_ @slime @jeder yes, I don't recall Sophie being famous before transitioning and yet the deadname was there just few months ago, and if you look into the edit history it's not the first time it had to be removed

I have successfully done that

@eloy @jeder @rail_ @slime these edits not only change this one word, but also the pronouns. So, what's the point of changing source if the transphobic editor will still do this shit? Maybe, not exactly in this specific article, but this is a common pattern
