You probably mean this politically, and that's true.However, it's also true just from a self-protection pov; without a consumer protection agency, commercial products cannot be trusted to be safe. The leopard has begun eating its own face.

@rasterweb That's easy for someone to say if they have "disposable" income at some level, and can shop for fresh food and clean water in their local area.
But for someone struggling to pay outrageous rent for 1 or 2 bedroom apartments while working for below minimum wages in some states to support 2 or 3 people, it would be an improbable task to just "stop being consumers".
IF I'm taking your declaration the wrong way then I apologize...so please elaborate your plan to do this in a collective sense, okay? -

@Coherence @ahumanbeinz Yes, I was definitely leaning towards "spend less" because I too live in a Capitalist society and cannot easily just stop buying things... But I can try to cut down on things, keep things longer, repair things, etc.
We have power in how we choose to spend, and if spending less (where appropriate) is possible, it's worth considering.
