Playing around with some new map styles for @openbenches

Fancy 3D buildings!
-
@Edent I dare you to make it display little 3d benches
-
@redauburn
Boom! -
A slightly more subtle tilt looks pretty good.
-
@Edent I like it. What does it look like where building data isn’t available?
-
@cehwitham
Just normal maps.
(Just innocent maps.) -

@Edent @openbenches Scottish BBC viewers hated this view of their weather maps when introduced in the early 90s (fat bottomed britain).

@aweatherall It is a slippy map. Viewers in the north can zoom in and out.
-
@Edent do you get enough orientation data from the photos to work out the direction a bench is facing? (And so can put mini benches onto the map)
-
@Edent @openbenches I’d try to make the numbers larger
-
@chthonicionic Hmmm. An interesting idea. Some phones show the direction the photographer is facing. So 180 from that should be the bench's POV.
But I'm wondering if rotating thousands of markers is going to be too computationally expensive?
And the GeoJSON is already 11MB - so I'm reluctant to add more data in there.
Could do it just on the details page.
Let me cogitate on it.
