Can't install plugins

Hi. I've been trying to install several plugins for a while with no luck. I cd to my nodebb directory and do "npm install etc" and nothing happens. I don't even get an error message.

Has anyone experienced the same thing?

The Googles has many suggestions for npm install no output

What is your OS and version of node and npm? npm --version && node --version
