When I pulled the plug in October, 2023 on my daily Twitter engagement, and went all in on the #Fediverse, I had some goals in mind, written in my desktop notebook.
- No longer get my news from a social media feed (instead reading more traditional journalism)
- Try to avoid negativity, at least as much as my personality will allow
- Seek out creative, engaging content producers
and most important:
- Always interact; stop just consuming, and don't just use the platforms as an advertising, click-driving vehicle.

@coffeegeek I’m glad you are representing coffee in the ‘verse.
BTW, I could not connect with the espresso machine museum in Modena. Their website says they hope to reopen in 2024 in a new location. An email to their published contact resulted in no reply.

@christopherbrown That's a bummer! There is always the Enrico Maltoni museum...

@coffeegeek I left behind 6k followers from the birdsite in 2021, don’t regret it but I do miss a few people.
-
@Doctor_J_ 28k over here, disconnected. But mind you, the last year or so on the platform, engagement dropped off a cliff.
-
@coffeegeek how did it go?
-
- still get some news from social media, but reading traditonal news sources more, via @Flipboard and RSS
- I like to think I've cut down on negativity by around 50%.
- I am engaging more with creative content producers
- Aced the last one.

@coffeegeek
I did not know you on Twitter but never stopped to enjoy reading your posts since Mastodon times. It's the supposedly simple things that have a lasting effect: WDT is now part of my routine. Before you I did not (want to) understand the impact
Thanks for being such a passionate and informative - well - coffee geek -
@holger Awww thank you so much for your kind words!
