‘Betrayal’: Marty Baron, former Washington Post editor, slams paper’s non-endorsement
Jeff Bezos’ decision to block the Washington Post’s presidential endorsement has been met with a lot of strong reactions – including from the paper’s own journalists and its legendary former Executive Editor Marty Baron. “I see this as a betrayal of the core principles of the Post,” he tells Ali Velshi. He calls the circumstances in which this decision was made – just days before a consequential election – as “highly suspect.” And yet, he hopes people to keep their subscriptions to support the Post’s journalists. “People should try to imagine the world without a Washington Post…We would be weaker as a democracy.”
