Owning both now (and having just spent 38C3 wearing the Advantage 900):

HF800SD Pros:

More filter options incl. the amazing activated charcoal ones (I popped off the respirator for a moment the other day and was like “wow, it stinks of cigarettes here”)
Lower breathing resistance
Filters last longer since they’re not dealing with moist air

MSA Advantage 900 Pros:

Much less heavy
Filters outgoing air (if this is important to you; it’s not a major covid consideration for me most of the time these days because nobody masks)
Speech diagram is massively better
A bit less intimidating to people

@jeder @lilian @rick The filters will last really quite a while with occasional wear, they’ll go much faster if you’re doing really extended use.

Based on breathing resistance I think my first filter set for the Advantage 900 (I just got it before 38C3, and I wore it for the entire event) is toast already - so that’s about 56 hours of continuous wear? But i think if I’d been taking it off and on more it would have probably lasted longer (because I think moisture accumulation fucks them up faster).

@jeder @lilian @rick Anyway I’ll probably wear the Advantage 900 to events (it is so much easier to understand someone talking through it, its unreal) and use the HF800 for long train journeys
