while the drama is hot, just wondering what _is_ the best WordPress alternative for a plug-n-play flexible web solution for the average (e.g. non-sysadmin/webdev) person?

like I've made a whole bunch of websites in my day and always want something like wp but lighter, but also something I can fully pass off and let people fully maintain on their own without any technical skills, and not be locked into a vendor (sqsp, shopify, etc)

@[email protected] Honestly? Probably something like SquareSpace. Most decent self-hosted options lean into developer/business needs with a lot of extra work (or built on a language that needs a sysadmin), and the ones that don't aren't very well made.
Joomla might work as well, but it's been a while since I looked into its updates. -
@[email protected] Okay. That's a different set of needs. You might want to look into Grav with the Admin plugin. It's technical to set up initially, but editing content is straight forward and moving hosts is a matter of moving files to somewhere that supports PHP.
