You have two downsides: you are young, and you are a woman / Marijke Luttekes
Being young and a woman are problems when you are a freelancer in IT, or so a man said.

@mahryekuh this is really well written. My emotions ran from moments of pride, to sadness and disappointment. For what it's worth, I think the reminders are helpful to the community, despite my desires that we wouldn't need them. Especially when they are as well written as this.

@CodenameTim Thank you! Yeah, it wasn't a "fun" write but sometimes we have to bite the bullet and post it, it seems.

I'm happy that this is both encouraging and does not go unnoticed:
> I thought it was incredible that both fellows were women (the other being Natalia Bidart); it was my first time seeing something like this.
I'm sorry for the rest, though. ️
While I have never worked with you, I can endorse you to stand your own with the best of us. Well done on that.

I can totally relate with this piece of writing. Sad to say that implicit bias for women in tech still persists consciously and/or unconsciously and those mocking "diversity hiring" remarks really hurt despite the skills and efforts. Every word of this blog post has been put forth really well!
More power to you, you are worthy of the best!

This goes for you, too!

@mahryekuh you've written a very difficult article with great compassion. As you infer, gender & age shouldn't matter, only ability (and perhaps personality fit for the team).
I hope its okay that I've followed you?
