I need to be more "evil" and "steal" people's public profile "data". Like we apparently do in the "fediwhatthefuc" as opposed to corporate platforms. :kek:
Yep. That's real. Someone on Threads said that.
I'm crying right now. That is too damn funny.

@exerra how are you a meta cuck, much less a bot account?
Bots can take videos of people's profiles and post them now? ChatGPT doing work! :lul:

@exerra okay, I think we seriously need to stop making fun of this man. He might be mentally ill.

@[email protected] Nah, just rightfully skeptical. If scrapers didn't exist I'd say he has a valid point that giving your data to random servers isn't great, but since scrapers have been around forever, that is already happening!
As someone already replied to one of his quote posts, treat everything you post as something that will stay on the internet forever, because most likely it will due to scrapers, etc. -

@exerra but beyond scrapers, Meta itself is selling his data to dozens, if not hundreds of companies.
He's willingly handing it over, they're not even stealing it. In a way that's even more personal to him than Fedi could, because they have cookies that are grabbing his data that's been collected on other sites as well.️

@BeAware Lol, i haven't even considered joining threads. Mastodon, even with its flaws is still much better.

@gocu54 I did for a bit, then a series of really bad interactions with employees forced me to leave.
There's a @Fediverse account there that's not run by them and is run by some random dude in Hong Kong who was (when I was there) spreading misinformation about Fediverse including telling an Iraq resident that the reason Fediverse sharing wasn't available at the time on Threads in his country is because of the poor internet stability in the country.
I directly told a threads engineer about this and they proceeded to follow the account.️
I knew because I followed the engineer and when you go to someone's profile, if someone you follow, follows that person, threads will show you their profile pic near the following number.
As soon as I saw that, I deleted my account.
Idiots work there.
