Winning hearts and minds with my usual "lol speed cameras are only raising revenues from criminals why should you care" hot take.
-
@MattHatton @liamvhogan @stibbons @futzle throw in - "i think we should add GPS speed limiters to vehicles" - and watch the flames go blue
-
@MattHatton @futzle @stibbons ‘tell your story walking’ [because you’re about to lose your licence]
-
@MattHatton @futzle @liamvhogan @stibbons Australia loves a justified copping.
-
@drew @futzle @liamvhogan @stibbons ACAB but I would quite like to make it home from work unscathed so fuck you if you think you're magically more important than everyone else.
-
@decryption @MattHatton @stibbons @futzle you are like a tiny baby watch this.
‘Road taxes should be levied based on a usage rate measured at the odometer’
-
@liamvhogan @decryption @stibbons @futzle *Ferris Bueller running the car in reverse for an hour intensifies*
-
@liamvhogan @MattHatton @stibbons @futzle now we are talking
-
@MattHatton @drew @futzle @stibbons so real talk I think this has been an effect of ABS in modern cars. There’s a generation of drivers who’ve never experienced the unforgettable steering wheel twitch that comes with understeering around a corner, and don’t have the terror
-
@liamvhogan @drew @futzle @stibbons I have long maintained the most effective way of reducing the death toll for young drivers is teaching them how to respond to over/understeer.
-
@liamvhogan @decryption @MattHatton @stibbons @futzle and the weight of the vehicle
-
@argentcorvid @decryption @MattHatton @stibbons @futzle NSW already does that, which is good and cool. I own both a small motorbike and a Land Rover, it’s a hell of a difference
-
@decryption @MattHatton @liamvhogan @stibbons @futzle "40Km urban speed limit" if you want to see their head explode.
(Meanwhile the weight of the best selling car has moved from 800Kg to 2100Kg since 60Km was made the urban speed limit.)
-
@glent @decryption @MattHatton @stibbons @futzle once again you are like a tiny baby watch this.
‘You should need a light rigid truck licence to drive any vehicle >2T GVM’
-
@liamvhogan @glent @decryption @stibbons @futzle If it can't fit a pallet in the back, it doesn't pass ADR and must be crushed into a cube.
-
@liamvhogan @glent @decryption @MattHatton @futzle I've started on "truck speed limits should apply for everything >2T GVM. Yes, even your Ranger. Yes, especially your EV." Yours is good too.

@liamvhogan @MattHatton @futzle @stibbons e-bikes have just in the past few years shaken the reputation of being transport for folk with suspended licenses.
(Meanwhile, spending another grand on a car I bought for 14k, so looking with interest at the prices of the Tern cargo e-bikes.)
-
@stibbons @liamvhogan @glent @decryption @MattHatton @futzle In some parts of the world trucks are only allowed in the two slow lanes (e.g. the two left lanes on the Monash Freeway). Big fines for driving in any other lane.
That should apply to any vehicle over 2T.
-
@liamvhogan @decryption @MattHatton @stibbons @futzle How about ‘self-driving/auto-pilot systems on cars may only be included if the car is programmed to never go faster than 2km/h below the posted speed limit’
