It's not just the Internet. EVERYTHING is barely held together by an endless series of near misses and informal relationships. Like every time I talk with someone who deals with freight shipping, it always sounds like the only way anything works at all is a couple handful of people who just happen to know everyone, and track every shipment in the country in a spreadsheet on their desktop.
