Scott Dworkin continues his weekly "5 Corporate Media Fails" series with commentary on four big fails this week in which the media either failed to cover a story adequately or got it wrong — always in Trump's favor:

"American democracy depends upon a thriving fourth estate to function optimally. That’s not what we have right now. Not even close. Independent media is doing its best to step up, but there is still a void left by the failures of those traditional outlets people have been relying on for decades. They are failing us, settling for 'both-sides' laziness at the expense of objective facts and, ultimately, democracy."

I see media over and over ignore the weird thing trump says and not report that in their reporting.
At the same time they ride on every nuance Harris makes.
They don't even treat trump and Biden the same!
-
@wdlindsy Not a Trump supporter but is Trump not allowed the same right to free press as Harris? If the press wishes to cover Trump's sayings, that's how it should be.
-
@rooktallon Free press?

@cowboyminer Yes, that's what I and a whole lot of people see, too. We're not imagining it?

@Kraemer_HB Thank you for pointing that out. My stupid mistake! I'll correct the posting.

@dyanam0 Thank you — kudos to you. I've started supporting The Guardian financially as a subscriber, and need to see if I can muster a bit more financial support for all they give me and others.

@wdlindsy
The presidency is more than one man
The 25th Amendment was there to avoid collapse because of a President ailing
There is a VP to become President
Biden's age was never a real problem
This 2024 election year is simple:
Vote 4 Harris/Walz
Trump is not a choice
He is a Sociopathic Moron
A Criminal
A GOP
Send him to jail -

@wdlindsy Somebody needs to do 500 words or less that connects this thread to Sulzbergers guest-opinion in WaPo (gift, if you click the link and not the image https://wapo.st/47zs4lr ) . I still can't wrap my head around the disconnect.

@wdlindsy Newspapers and television are biting people like mad dogs because the Internet is slowly making them obsolete.

@Alarod Well-stated. Yes, this is definitely a large part of what's going on.

@hakona You're welcome to use the thread that way if you can think of a way to make the connection. I'm not very skilled at that kind of thing, myself.

@Arqtec Yes.

@wdlindsy Yes, me neither. I guess I'd have to go back to school and spend a decade learning logic, rhetoric and philosophy to make sense of that opinion piece.

@hakona Indeed.
