There’s a conservative-ish candidate for supervisor in my neighborhood. He’s taken out ads about ‘a new way to fight crime in SF’. He never elaborates on what that new way is, but from past record, probably more money for cops, put people in prison, involuntarily commit mentally unwell people, take away homeless people’s tents.
He’s a Democrat, apparently. Apparently he’s a ‘moderate’
‘Moderate’ positions on law and order have veered very far right here.

So I don’t have to say who, but this actually sounds like almost every supervisor and mayoral candidate in San Francisco. Which is depressing.

@skinnylatte Portland is going through the same thing. There is a mayoral candidate whose main campaign promise is “zero homeless people within one year”.
Yeah, there’s no humane way to achieve that ever, much less in one year.
