I've always been curious about Ubiquiti network products for home use. Unfortunately it is quite expensive in Canada.
I really would like to update my old Eero home network. It works but as you know very limited if you don't pay for a subscription.
The network cabinet our home builder installed is not too deep. Height wise it is ok but only small components can fit in there. It has always been a dream project to update this network with pi-hole and other cool open source stuff.

@jnv it’s been a while since I gave up on Ubiquiti, so take this with a grain of salt. I had a while setup using their gear — multiple APs and their firewall. I gave up because it was all too buggy.
I moved onto TP-Link APs and a mini PC running OPNsense. I have been satisfied with this setup. Stable and just runs without issue.

@jnv my mini pc isn’t from Protectli. It’s been running 24x7 since before the pandemic. Fanless and quiet.

@mookie I remember seeing this and others on Amazon. I was curious about it too. Do you have your TP-link AP connected to this directly or to an ethernet port in your home?
