I'm enjoying that this introduction to PostGIS just casually mentions that you can define 2D, 3D or _4D_ geometry.

I assume 4D here means time but I'm also enjoying the notion that there's this whole segment of the postgis userbase constructing hypermaps of worlds they no longer need eyes to see. Writhing geographies that defy comprehension, yet must be surveyed and fathomed so that their hostile topology can be contained. A hobbyist cartomancer contributed 4D GIS support in 2004, for fun.
