I'm really grateful for the time I've spent this week at #FediForum. I'm still compiling all my notes, but overall... Wow. I couldn't have asked for a more welcoming and enthusiastic group of people to hang out with for 3 days!
-
As someone who can be a little shy to lean in and participate in new tech circles until I'm sure they will be the right environment for me, having the digital face-to-face events has been so helpful!
-
One thing I'm most inspired to do after this FediForum is to talk more in public about what I'm building.
-
I haven't done a very good job of building @frequency in public, mostly due to lack of experience doing that, but also due to bad past experiences speaking up as a woman in technical spaces.
-
The past 3 FediForums that I've had the privilege to participate in have completely mollified any fears around that. I'm so grateful for the community of thoughtful, kind humans who are building technically and socially in this space.
-
So I am committing publicly here to participating more in discussions around specs and implementations, to lend a hand where I can, and to share my progress on frequency more often than just when we're releasing something
-
@jesseplusplus oh! I would love to learn more about @frequency so I’m glad you’re looking to share more about it! It was great to have you in the spaces over the past few days, also!
-
@andypiper awesome, thank you! It was great to join the conversations with you as well!
@frequency aims to cover the niche of private, personal photo-and-video sharing on the fediverse. I'd love for it to be a place where people can escape from facebook/instagram and get a more calm, less addictive social feed for updates from friends and family
-
@jesseplusplus @frequency interested to check it out when it is available outside US
-
@andypiper @frequency I’ve got to get my legal ducks in order, since I hear Europe doesn’t mess around but hopefully soon!
