@MarcusAnthonyCyganiak thankfully that's a pretty #Fediverse wide thing and not so much just a #Mastodon thing.
I don't know of a Fediverse software that has a full algorithm yet.
Threads might be the first one when they fully federate.

@BeAware You’re right, I’m new here, and still learning—I should refer to the network as a whole as the Fediverse, rather than Mastodon, correct?
And yes, Threads has an algorithm built in. You’re at the mercy of that, which is concerning. Like Instagram, you can build an audience, and then suddenly you’re invisible because Meta has changed something that prevents your account from being seen, even by your followers, because they want you to pay for ads to be seen. Not cool.

@MarcusAnthonyCyganiak yes, the entire network is Fediverse and Mastodon is only a part of it, albeit a huge one, they didnt, and still aren't, earning a very good reputation for being an overall positive part of the Fediverse.
That's a whole different beast of an issue though.
Overall, Fediverse has MANY different softwares, as it is the nickname for softwares that use the ActivityPub protocol to communicate.
If you'd like to know more about the platforms and their specific use cases, I'd suggest reading the "Software using ActivityPub" section on the Wikipedia page.
The list isn't complete, as their is new software all the time, and some softwares on the list are no longer updated, but it's a decent start.
