@TCatInReality Well-stated. It has, for sure. And, of course, we knew from the outset that the whole concept of states' rights was crafted to preserve the institution of slavery by thwarting democratic attempts to overturn it.

The same states that ban abortion provide absolutely no help for medical expenses, therapy, etc.
Republicans wage war on women, rape campaigns are part of that war.
Republican Officials Openly Insult Women Nearly Killed by Abortion Bans
Red states would rather let a patient die than let her terminate a dangerous pregnancy. And they’re barely pretending otherwise.

Study estimates 64,000 pregnancies from rape in states that enacted abortion bans post-Roe
Polls show about seven in 10 Americans say abortion should be legal in cases of rape or incest. But since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, nine states have banned abortion in those cases. A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association calculates there have been more than 64,000 rape-related pregnancies in areas with bans. John Yang discussed the study with Dr. Samuel Dickman.

Pete Buttigieg described in detail why the GOP are clinging to the malign influence narrative about immigrants & pets.
It's to hijack a news cycle after the debate where Trump was a failure & avoid focus on issues. It's a deliberate media strategy.

It’s all fun and games mocking Convicted Felon Donald J. Trump’s and it deserves a few days of songs and memes but now it’s time to look at the deeper meaning. We all know and even his own people know trump is in deep cognitive decline beyond anything...

@wdlindsy send abortion regulation to the states? Then send it to the people of each state. You are a government by the people, for the people. Not a government by politicians for politicians or by politicians for An authoritarian wanna-be!

@drtuck And yet, we see in state after state that, when the people attempt to place referendums about abortion rights on the ballot, Republicans do everything in their power to block those referendums. They do not want people voting on this issue, because they know they are in the minority.

@Npars01 Thank you for these links. Astute commentary by Pete Buttigieg. Through the entire Trump era, the catch-22 has been that if we totally ignore their malicious statements and actions towards vulnerable people, those people have no defenders. But if we respond and highlight what's going on, we fall into the cycle of letting Trump and his epigones drive news cycles. The key here is media awareness of what's going on and refusal to be led by the nose.
