"This evening, Quil Lawrence and Tom Bowman of NPR explained the story behind the surprising photos of Trump on Monday giving a thumbs-up over a grave in Arlington National Cemetery. The reporters wrote that '[t]wo members of Donald Trump's campaign st...

@wdlindsy
Perhaps the smile and thumbs up meant "better them than me." -
@wdlindsy it makes the GOP attacks against Walz all the more infuriating in its hypocrisy.
-
@jodmentum Doesn't it, though? They're afraid to go after Harris directly, since they can be accused of racism and misogyny, so they use their corporate media allies to ask pretend-serious but hostile questions about her "policy." But they think that Walz is fair game, and they intend to smear him as dishonest, to undermine any support he may have as a solid, middle-American man.

Dammit, the only good Trump (Mary is awesome!) waylaid by #Covid.
"[Apologies in advance for any typos, etc. I’ve been taking Paxlovid since Sunday, but I seem to have different symptoms every day—today it’s COVID brain, so focusing is a little difficult.]”

"Trump called soldiers who gave their lives in World War II 'suckers and losers' and referring to the graves at Arlington during a Memorial Day ceremony in 2017 asked his chief of staff, 'What’s in it for them? I don’t get it.'
Look at Trump’s staged grin and thumb’s up. He is grotesque in his actions, and in the consistent way he dishonors the nation’s military dead."

Two members of Trump’s entourage were involved in a physical altercation with an employee of Arlington National Cemetery on Monday when the employee tried to prevent them from taking still photographs and videos in Section 60 where casualties from Iraq and Afghanistan are buried.

"This photograph, showing Trump using the grave of a dead soldier to promote himself and his campaign for president, should be all the evidence anyone needs why he must not be allowed anywhere near the Oval Office or Arlington National Cemetery ever again."

"Gone are the niceties of image management. Instead, the campaign has seized upon the gravesites of dead soldiers as crude political props—while training rhetorical scorn and alleged body blows on anyone seeking to preserve the private, solemn character of remembrance for the war dead."

@Greengordon Yes, I had noticed that she says she's now dealing with Covid. Several people I read more or less daily for good commentary have lately said they've come down with Covid. You are absolutely right: Covid is not over.
