@tanepiper @rysiek You're definitely not shit and the site doesn't say that – but it can only "detect" request blocking.
Can you give me more information about this VPN?
-
@tanepiper Well, it's definitely a valid point, since you *do* have ad-blocking.
Will have to hit up the Proton folks and ask whether there's some string I can put into the URL I can use to trigger their ad-blocking.
If so, I'll definitely document that so other people using Stefans no-adblock detection can improve their versions.
If it's not possible, I'll have to make this into a closable modal, which I'd rather avoid because I think adblockers are critical for online security.
-
PS: If you're curious, the general technique is described on @stefan 's site:

-
Yes, sorry, the ad detection is very much work in progress.
-
@stefan Well, *you* definitely don't need to apologize for anything, *I'm* the one who used it to build an unclosable overlay. =D
Already super grateful that you documented this technique. Also linking to your post in my 'obscure webdev' article – tho you won't see much in your logs because of rel="noreferrer"

@phryk @tanepiper @rysiek My pleasure! Really glad people are getting a use out of this, as imperfect as the results may be.
I've been a bit swamped with other things, but the project is very much still on my radar, so improvements are definitely coming!
And thank you for spreading the word!
