Discussion of the overt fascism now promoted openly by one of the two major parties in the US continues — because of course.

China never foresaw the consequences of their slave labor camps either.
Multinationals moving out. Sanctions. Reputational damage. Imports stop. The spread of slavery. International fraud.

@Npars01 Yes — and I think it's people in general and not only national leaders or those crafting these plans that need to be challenged to educate themselves about what happens to them, to everyone, when they choose to vent hate in this way.

The South never acknowledged the harms of slavery either. Modern Republicanism is based on that delusional denial.
Harriet Beecher Stowe was reviled in the South for rubbing their nose in it.

@wdlindsy we just got our roof replaced. We wondered the same thing. I speak some Spanish and was able to talk to the workers. All very nice and polite; patient as I struggled to use my Spanish. They arrived before dawn at 6:30 AM and left way after the sun went down, taking only a break for lunch. Tell me what MAGA would do that?

Honestly with the way that this shit is going I'm starting to think that the government should offer police wellness checks every hour during and maybe until handover for all election workers.
Would be tax dollars put to good use. Wasteful considering it shouldn't be needed, but yeah.
Don't these dumbasses know that the election people count *their* votes too? and that generally most places ensure they have a fair mix of all parties that are representing in their county? -

@MerelyAHut This is EXACTLY what we saw this summer when a crew of hard-working Hispanic immigrant men put a new roof on the house of our next-door neighbor. They started at daylight and worked till dusk with only a lunch break.
And these are the people we claim are harming all of us in some way? The people we want to round up and deport?
Something's wrong with us, it seems.

"For nearly a decade, the American mainstream has failed over and over again to understand what Donald Trump is, what he means, how he works. ...
Many of Trump’s voters know exactly what he is. They know he’s going to blow the status quo to smithereens and they want him to. They want him to be incompetent, they want him to be senile, they want him to be cruel."

"They want him to violate every one of the Ten Commandments in public view. ...
Nothing you tell a convinced Trump voter about Trump’s qualifications, problems or likely actions matters to them. In fact, you are only convincing them more. Everything you fear and loathe about Trump is a recommendation to them."
And (my footnote), they may very well get their way, this election cycle.

@sakata_m Thank you for voicing those concerns. Election workers really need a lot of reinforcement and support, seems to me. And, no, I think the dumbasses don't even reflect that the election workers are counting their votes, too.
