Let me get this straight: it wasn't about the price of eggs after all?

@Katma I'm with you. Totally agree.

@wdlindsy My view is, the self righteous GOP attack on any and all people of difference, includes women, who are not a minority?

"In the wake of Donald Trump’s 2024 victory, huge numbers of Republicans who previously believed that the economy was 'getting worse' and that U.S. elections are not 'free and fair' no longer believe those things, according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll."

"The survey of 1,612 U.S. adults, which was conducted from Nov. 14 to Nov. 18, found that fewer than half of Republicans (48%) now say the economy is getting worse. But immediately before the Nov. 5 election, nearly three-quarters of Republicans (74%) said the economy was going downhill.
That’s a sudden 26-point shift."
Magic! The price of eggs magically no longer matters.

"It is also a mistake to talk about 'what went wrong' by ignoring the fact that Trump's campaign platform had three culture-war pillars: racism, sexism, and white supremacy.
Those policy pillars are manifesting themselves in Trump's nominees for senior positions in his administration. To publish an analysis of 'why Democrats lost' while ignoring Trump's campaign themes is a recipe for delusion."

The White Supremacy fails because Trump and his choices are all failures as human beings -
It's crazy. Controlling people's perception of the economy is how they steer it.
-
@TheEffekt Well-noted and well-stated.

@Christo_459 I suspect that the ideology of white supremacy is a failure from the outset. Trying to hinge human worth on accidentals like pigmentation and fictions like race is a failure of imagination and intellect.

@solownh So it seems. Hofstadter was right on target with his commentary about anti-intellectualism in American culture.

@MotherEarth Magical, cultic thinking. The folks who should really be ashamed are the media, who know better but love to use this meme of Democrats ignoring "real Americans" election after election as a cudgel to beat up the Democrats.

@Piousunyn I suppose much depends on what the term "minority" means. It might mean people who are historically disempowered even when they constitute a numerical majority, I would think. Reading that statement to which you're responding, I'm not inclined to quibble about the term "minority."
