"In an interview with right-wing host Mark Levin on the Fox News Channel last night, Trump complained about the new grand jury indictment of him for trying to steal the 2020 presidential election. 'Whoever heard you get indicted for interfering with a ...

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar looks at the raids on Latino civil rights organizations in Texas Ken Paxton has engineered:
"This is designed to intimidate Hispanics from registering and registered Hispanic voters from voting.
Second, this is part of a larger Republican campaign to lay the groundwork for claiming any election they lose as being the result of voter fraud."

"Ken Paxton has earned his tainted reputation as one of the most corrupt politicians in the country."
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is right: Ken Paxton is one of the most corrupt creatures to be spotted anywhere in American public life today. He's singularly corrupt.
But his corruption mirrors and is sustained by the deep corruption of the Republican Party in Texas, and by Greg Abbott as its leader.

It's so damned ironic that Levin is (or was) a lawyer who was chief of staff for the hard right Edwin Meese. Now Levin will spin this statement and prove how abased and corrupt he truly is.

@wdlindsy Greg Abbott should pay for airline and bus tickets for Texans who wish to relocate to states with better services, as he has done for undocumented immigrants.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) was recently directed by the state legislature to identify ways of improving their efficiency. They sent out a survey to ask citizens for their ideas, and flying or busing persons to states with better services was one of my suggestions for the state ranked dead last by Mental Health America in the quality of its mental health services. I also suggested the HHSC collaborate with an independent organization to revise their state-mandated performance measures so they are meaningful rather than an Orwellian attempt to divert any scrutiny. I don't expect my ideas to go anywhere.

@JosephMeyer Good for you for pushing even if they ignore you. I have three first cousins living in Texas, and one who died last year. When I'm in touch with them, I hear a lot of braggadocious talk about Texas, none of which seems to be well-informed about the actual political situation in Texas and the odious people leading the state politically. I feel as I'm listening to people from another planet when I listen to them — but am unsurprised at them, given their religious backgrounds.

@wdlindsy Your thread here inspired me to share my recommendations for the HHSC with my state senator and representative who happen to be Democrats. Maybe they will be interested. Thanks for your consistently informative and intelligent threads.
