"Funny" gets laughs. "Relatable" gets engagement.

Choices paralysis is easy to overcome. Just close eyes and stab randomly at the menu
That's how you end up with a bottle of Pinot Grigio for dinner

I'd eat anywhere that offered a mariachi band

Whenever I get through two options with this, I say, βOkay, you pick. I donβt really want to play this game. If you donβt want to pick Iβll make one of the first offers.β

Yeah LJS has been around since 1969, and they were incredibly unhealthy until the 2000s. Now they're merely mostly unhealthy lol. And idk, it depends on what you were looking for. Taco Bell was great in the 90s, at least nearby my hometown, but the quality could shift a lot from location to location.
Finally enough I avoided JITB until the 2000s because of some big e.coli scare in....1995? I think? I knew nothing about them until that because they weren't in my part of the country then, but even when out of state, I wouldn't go there because of my first impressions coming from the news. Pretty damn good stuff by the time I did go.

"Isn't it weird how the chef always seems to recommend the most expensive item on the menu?"

I'm thankful I'm not a picky eater. I'll eat anything and it's the company that makes the biggest difference for me when eating out. On the other hand, it makes it hard for me to lose weight.

One of the perks of going vegetarian is that it's gotten rid of my decision paralysis in most restaurants - there's usually only two or three things that I can eat on any given menu. The smart places know where the bar is for decent vegetarian options and meet or exceed it, because the vegetarian in the friend group can and will veto if the option is a plain baked potato or the like.

My wife and I recently found one a few towns over that is managed really well, is clean, and the food tastes great and is always fresh. It feels like a miracle every time we go there haha
-
...I don't want any of this
I would've taken any comic. I'm easy.

Wife and I solved this by rule of 3. She gets to decide if she's suggesting options or making a choice. Whoever is suggesting options gives 3 choices. They must be something the other potentially likes. The other then either chooses one of the three or has to suggest 3 choices of their own. We rarely have to go past the original 3 options any more.

This happened yesterday! As a Christmas gift, I got a book of Sunday comics.
As a group, from boomers to my under-10yo kids, we skipped through it. The kids laughed at the weird abstract ones. I loved the ones with wordplay. My neighbor in her 60s laughed at the husband/wife joke.
Found it really fascinating how no comic made everyone laugh at the same time.
The one everyone agreed was a good comic, I'm even though it wasn't funny, was the "peeing in the pool" comic. Relatable brings us all together.

that then the person you're with suggests fucking Long John Silvers.
Shit. I am that guy.
I say the worst possible ideas out of my head for laughs.
One time, I said PF Chang's AS A JOKE. And everyone politely agreed and we went to PF Fucking Chang's and it was the grossest Chinese food I ever ate. I FAFO myself.

A coworker said this to me. We were at a Chinese Restaurant. They were adamant on someone else ordering for them.
I ordered them the Cheese Burger and french fries.
They chickened out and picked a real order.

I will eat anything if someone else order something for me.

Almost every sit-down chain restaurant in my state closed down/failing because of quality issues or local competition. Chili's, Red Lobster, Long John Silvers, Applebee's...
It was HUGE local news during the pandemic with franchises begging people to "Support their local Chili's" and everyone laughed. Then one really loud owner bought lots of local ads that we don't deserve it and the locals dunk on them.
As of last month, another chain restaurant faded away, while more local restaurants popped up.
Nature is healing.
