Literally installed moshidon on my new phone just for this.

@mima (after all, why invent a new word for "colonialism")

@mima and also confirms why most pro Palestinian arguments sound like stuff a republican pulled out of where the sun doesn't shine -- calling immigration and foreign "divide and conquer" policy colonialism.
Actually, republicans are saying that about immigration to the USA.

@[email protected] The Labor Zionist era of Israel is an interesting topic too. I feel like it would be great if some alt-history guy would explore a scenario where the USSR supported the Israelis (or at least still tried to balance relations) instead of being opportunistic and supporting the Arab states instead. It's not even very far-fetched; there was a time when the US supported the Arab states more (I think that was during Eisenhower) and the Soviets were more balancing in its diplomatic relations in the Middle East. This aspect is criminally underexplored.
It was never the US alone to blame for the shitshow right now -

@mima (not that the latest pro Israeli arguments are any better - that is, not that they exist. The Israeli government is so bad they actually closed the foreign public opinion ministry and then wondered why everyone hates them)

@[email protected] Oh, like the "Palestine is Arab" shit? Yeah it sounds very right-wing lol. Like imagine saying "America is white" or "Britain is white"
How are they not seeing themselves in the mirror -

@mima it is indeed. It really wasn't far fetched - it was actually true, for a time. The Arab states were allied with the British, who then forced it to stop its divide and conquer policy in favour of supporting Palestine - as the divide part has already been implemented - the USA wasn't the global power it later became yet - France didn't yet exist properly - and the USSR was Israel's closest ally. The Independence War was fought with Soviet weaponry from WW2.
Though, I'd blame this war on the USA alone. Specifically, Obama. I agree with him on almost every topic - requiring American weapon grants to be manufactured in America makes a lot of sense - but it had unfortunate effects on Israel itself (defense industries going defunct). Plus, Netanjahu's and Kahana's American sponsors.
But the situation itself isn't the USA's fault. It's the British' divide and conquer.

@mima no, the "immigrants bad" shit.
But yeah that too

@mima note, a soviet Israel would never actually happen; the USSR is famously antitheistic, and Israel is a theocracy. It would only last a couple years.

@[email protected] Ahh yeah how I did I not think that first lol. But indeed the shit talking of immigrants and equating them to "colonizers" is getting annoying too. Even more annoying when it's fucking white people (whose ancestors were technically immigrants and were more colonial) saying it with a straight face. Like wow, maybe try cleaning up your shit first before lecturing us on what colonialism is? :parsee_angy:

@mima ikr, it's so annoying having to talk with an American (about the conflict). They're all "colonialism! Colonialism!". Meanwhile, most Israelis (counting Palestinians) are Arabs, but most Americans aren't native Americans.
This situation is of a government taken hostage, not of colonialism; Sorry for the brutality here, but if the holocaust proved anything, is that a state founded by German migrants won't need 80 years to execute a genocide. What's going on in Gaza rn is new, and yes, it's extremely bad, and sad, but it's not "the latest step of an 80 years genocide", and it's incredibly annoying watching them pretend Israel was evil all along.
(to any rando reading this: I'm a German Israeli Jew. If anyone can say this, it's me)

@mima (I'm also referring to the Palestinian government/s as taken hostage)
