Finally had a proper look at @eleventy.
I really like that it can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be.
I'm not quite sold on it for hosting blogs (yet), but I've migrated a few of my smaller projects for which I've used a simple node app (mainly to take advantage of templating).
Huge improvement in memory consumption! For example, https://simplepagebuilder.app went from 67.89MB down to just 6.07MB.
Nice!

@djuuss @eleventy Thank you for reaching out!
I'm not too sure I'll be able to help, I have been primarily using 11ty for simpler static pages.
For blogs, I might just refer you to the official documentation at https://www.11ty.dev/docs/tutorials/ (see the "start building a blog" section).
You might also be interested in looking into CMSes that work with 11ty: https://www.11ty.dev/docs/cms/
Hope some of this helps!

@djuuss @eleventy Actually, sorry, let me also add, for hosting, the simplest way to start my be the @glitchdotcom 11ty starter project:
Not sure if you're familiar with Glitch, but you can even start for free, and the pricing is fairly affordable.
Glitch: The friendly community where everyone builds the web
Simple, powerful, free tools to create and use millions of apps.

@djuuss I myself use https://caprover.com, which is a bit like Heroku, hosted on https://www.digitalocean.com.
It's a bit more involved setup, but I'm happy to share more details if you're interested.

@stefan wow i'm so glad i asked :)) i'm gonna look into it a little bit more and i'll be sure to reach back out when.. i know enough to ask a better question but thank you, already
really what i'm dreaming of is..
To have a folder on my laptop that is synced with a server somewhere, and if i put a markdown file in there, it will post that file as a blogpost to my site.and then yeah some 'about' 'contact' 'book a zoom call' tabs for people to interact with the content or with me.

@djuuss Of course, happy to help!
Hmm, if you're mainly interested in using Markdown to publish your posts, you might also want to look into https://picocms.org, which I've used successfully in the past. It's just PHP and Markdown, no build step.
For an even simpler setup, I'm trying to search Dropbox + Markdown, coming up with things like https://droppages.com/dropbox-markdown.
Is this getting closer to what you had in mind?

That last one is super super basic but in some way yeah!
I’m just fascinated about the possibilities of ‘transparant journaling’ as a way to publish.
Really the dream is.. just for the text editor itself to be live-streaming to the site XD but I’m very happy if when I work inside that folder, I hit save and that’s it, the post is online.
Like Medium.com but lightweight and open and cool on my own url so like I said, I think you’ve given me some excellent avenues for exploration.
(I found your post by searching for ‘eleventy hosting’) -

@djuuss Great, glad that I was able to give you some starting points!
Definitely let me know what setup you ended up choosing!
