"In a sprawling legal brief partly unsealed on Wednesday, the special counsel, Jack Smith, laid out his case for why former President Donald J. Trump is not immune from prosecution on federal charges of plotting to overturn the 2020 election."

The newly unsealed document contains the most detailed evidence of Trump’s attempts to subvert the election yet.

It backfired on Trump.
The SCOTUS decision actually required Judge Chutkan to assess what is or is not covered by the presumption of immunity. And so it created the situation where a superceding indectment would be needed and would contain much higher level of detail... all before the election.Without the SCOTUS immunity ruling, this information could remain sealed until the trial, sometime in 2025.

@chiclet I know. In thinking he and his lawyers were batting this legal filing out of the way until after the election, Trump actually set it up to come out now.

“The unsealed evidence in the January 6 case underscores how outrageous it was that the Supreme Court blocked Donald Trump’s criminal trial this year. It amounts to a judicially executed cover up."

"John Roberts not only rewrote the Constitution to protect Donald Trump. He forced prosecutors to spend 14 pages arguing that it is not among the job duties of the President of the United States to attack Republicans who’ve crossed him on Twitter."

John Roberts' newfangled presidential immunity is so sordid, he forced prosecutors to spend 14 pages explaining why Trump's attacks on fellow Republicans are not official acts of the President of the United States.

"What’s going on here is that the Supreme Court, by making Donald Trump a 'class of one' with its immunity decision – he is the only person in the history of the United States to have been declared immune from prosecution -- even for official acts as president that are criminal in nature – the Supreme Court has effectively made itself the trial court for any cases involving Donald Trump…."

@wdlindsy this kind of isn't true. I believe Joe Biden is one who holds the office now and should also be immune to such.
I would absolutely love for him to test what SCOTUS has wrought. He has a great case for hanging, or at least arresting someone for treason. Or whatever the hell he wants. -

@RoguePlayer I'm not sure what "this" refers to you in your first sentence, so I don't really know how to respond to what you're saying.

@wdlindsy sorry. I meant that djt isn't the only one who is immune. I'm assuming it's all presidents, not only him. Yes?

@RoguePlayer I suppose the Supremes would like us to imagine that. But it's clear they crafted their immunity ruling for Trump.
